Otunba Joseph Adebayo Adebambo was born in 1924 at Aboyin in Odokujegi, Ijebu Imusin. He attended St. Peter Claver’s Catholic Primary School, Esure, Ijebu Imusin, from 1936 to 1949. He obtained his First School Leaving Certificate in 1943, Teachers’ Higher Elementary Certificate in 1950, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1961.
He served as a teacher and later as Principal in a number of schools in Ijebu Imusin. Notable among them was St. Anthony’s Grammar School, Esure, Ijebu Imusin, which he joined in 1969. Subsequent to his departure from St. Anthony’s Grammar School, he served at Aiyepe High School.
As Otunba Ekujegi of Odokujegi, Ijebu Imusin, he contributed to the development projects of Ijebu Imusin in different capacities. He was Secretary, Ijebu Imusin Electrification Committee, and Secretary, Ijebu Imusin Post Office Construction Committee. He was also on the Committee for the Establishment of Ijebu Imusin Comprehensive High School, among others.
Otunba Joseph Adebambo was the State Chairman of Nigeria Union of Teachers, Ogun State Chapter. Until his retirement in 1984, he was also the Chairman of All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools, Ogun State Chapter.
