Otunba Abimbola Ketiku Adesanya was born on July 9, 1930 at Imuwen, Ijebu Imusin. He initially attended St. Andrew’s Anglican Primary School, Imuwen, and later St. Mary’s Anglican Primary School, Ijebu Imusin, for his First School Leaving Certificate. He also attended St. Paul’s Teacher Training College, Abeokuta, and then moved on to St. Luke’s Teacher Training College, Ibadan, where he passed with the Teachers’ Grade II Certificate. He went on to obtain a Diploma in Education at the University of Ibadan through the Ohio University ICA Project, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State.

He was a teacher and head teacher in many schools and a tutor at St. Matthew’s Teacher Training College, Ikoto, Ijebu Ode (1962 -1964); Muslim Teachers Training College, Oru, Ijebu Imusin; and Principal, Community High School, Ibafo via Owode, Abeokuta.  He retired in 1984 after 37 years of meritorious service.

Otunba Ketiku Adesanya served as Ijebu Divisional Leader, National Union of Teachers (NUT), and Chairman, Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Ijebu Ode Branch. He also served as Chairman, Imuwen Development Council, where he worked towards the extension of electricity to Ehin Ade Town. 

He was appointed Education Liaison Officer for Anglican Schools in Ijebu Ode and districts from 1967 to 1976. He was Member/Secretary, Board of Governors of many schools, including Ijebu Ode Grammar School, Ijebu Ode; Muslim Girls’ High School, Ijebu Ode; Anglican Girls’ School, Ijebu Ode; Ilusin Grammar School, Ilusin, Ogun Waterside; and Ijebu-Ife Community Grammar School.

Between 1991 and 1994, Adesanya served as Financial Secretary and Treasurer of Ijebu Imusin Planning Body (IPB). He also served as Treasurer and President of Social Elite Brothers of Nigeria, Ijebu Ode. From 1988 t0 1995, he was Judge and President of Grade I and II Customary Courts, Ijebu Ode. 

During his term of office as Assistant Secretary, Ijebu (Anglican) Deaconry, he was one of those who worked for the attainment of Ijebu Diocese which became Anglican Diocese in 1976. He was Secretary of Ijebu East D.C.C, Ijebu East Archdeaconry, Ijebu Imusin D.C.C., and Ijebu Imusin Archdeaconry for 14 years before stepping aside in the year 2000. He served as P.C.C Secretary and Treasurer of St. Andrews’ Church, Imuwen for many years. He is presently the ‘Baba Ijo’ of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Imuwen, Ijebu Imusin; the President of Imuwen Development Council; and the Treasurer of YMCA, St. Andrew’s Church, Imuwen. He is one of those working for the progress of Ijebu Imusin community.

He single-handedly organised the Omolumuwen Annual Rally. And in recognition of his praiseworthy contributions to the community, HRH Oba S. A. Onafowokan, the Oloko of Ijebu Imusin, awarded him the chieftaincy title of ‘Otunba Atunluto of Ijebu Imusin’. He has also received the prestigious Ijebu Imusin Merit Award. His NUT assignment has taken him to different countries in Africa and America. He is married and blessed with many good children and grandchildren.
