Rev. Osunfisan Victor Folorunso was born on March 15, 1925 at Ikala, Ijebu Imusin. He attended St. Peter Claver’s Catholic Primary School, Esure, Ijebu Imusin (1933-1934); Holy Trinity, Ibefun (1935-1937); St. James’ Oke-Adan, Yewa (1938), and St. Mary Anglican Primary School, Ijebu Imusin, from 1939 to 1940.

In pursuit of his secondary school education, Rev. Folorunso ran an overseas correspondence course at Wolsey Hall, Oxford, from 1945 to 1947, where he obtained the Cambridge Overseas School Certificate in November 1947.  He went on to gain his Higher Elementary Teachers’ Certificate in 1949, and later pursued an additional overseas course at Bernet College, Sheffield, from 1950 to 1953. The following year, in 1954, he sat for and passed G.C.E A/Level in Geography and Literature in English and then G.C.E A/Level in C.R.K in 1955. He studied at Obafemi Awolowo University Institute of Education, graduating with Associateship Certificate in Education in 1971. 

Rev Victor Folorunso started his career teaching in primary and secondary schools. He was on several occasions a primary school administrator. He had a three-year contract service in St. Anthony’s Grammar School (November 1979 – October 1982) when he attended a teacher-librarian course at Abadina Resource Centre, University of Ibadan, and served as school librarian throughout his stay in the school.

After his retirement as a teacher, he attended Emmanuel College of Theology and Christian Education, Ibadan, for a Diploma in Theology from 1983 to 1985.  He served as Parish Priest, Ijebu Anglican Diocese from 1985 to 1991. He was the first Administrative Assistant to Bishop I. B. O Akintemi of Ijebu Diocese from October 1982 to June 1986.  He was recalled to the Diocesan Headquarters and served Bishop A. S. O Olowoyo as Administrative Assistant from 1992 to 1993.

Rev. Folorunso was Secretary to the home branch of Ijebu Imusin Youth Club, the youth wing of I.P.S. from 1951 to 1952. He was Chairman, Parent Teacher Association (PTA), Ijebu Imusin Comprehensive High School, for 13 years. He was among the founders of Agege Club in 1973, and served two terms as its first President from 1973 to 1978.

Rev. Folorunso holds the traditional title of ‘Olori-Itun of Aledo-Ikala’. He organised and managed the Ikala Vigilante Watch for four years and served two terms of three years each as Chairman of the Community Development Association.

He won the Ijebu Diocese Silver Jubilee Award on the 8th day of August 2001, and on the 10th of November that same year, the Ijebu Imusin Planning Body also gave him an award of recognition. On 20th January 2003, he was sworn in as a Justice of Peace in the Ogun State Judiciary. Ijebu Imusin Comprehensive High School gave him an award of recognition on 20th July 2006. He also won the Ikala Community Award for Leadership and Peace on 30th December 2006.

In spite of his busy schedule, Rev. Folorunso still finds time to do gardening, which he says has been a long time passion. He was married to Chief (Mrs.) Rachael Moromoke Osunfisan, now late, and they were blessed with five sons and five daughters.
