Pa J. A. Ifederu was born in 1900 at Omu-Ijebu, Ogun State. He attended St. Andrews’ College, Oyo. Notable among his students at St. Mary Primary School, Ijebu Imusin, is Major-General T.B. Ogundeko (Rtd). According to Pa Ifederu, Master T. B. Ogundeko (now Major-General Ogundeko), was very brilliant, studious, level-headed and disciplined for his age. Because of these characteristics, the headmaster then, Pa John Adenuga, took him on his bicycle to Ijebu-ode to attend the entrance examination into Government College, Ibadan. It was a very tough and highly competitive examination at the time but little Master T. B. Ogundeko came out in flying colours.
There are other notable students of Pa J.A. Some of them are Pa Omolayole, formerly of Lever Brothers; Pa Olaolu Jaiyesimi, an architect of repute; and Pa Engr. S. Osobamiro. Pa J. A. Ifederu was one time the ‘Baba Ijo’ of St. Paul’s Church, Omu-Ijebu. He was the builder of the present builders of Ijebu Imusin. He went the extra mile to coach them and paved the way for their success.
