Mr. Edward Ogunbayo is a native of Ijebu Imusin, Ogun State, Nigeria. He had his secondary school education at Kings’ College, Lagos; and he holds a B.Sc. (1st Class Honours) in Surveying Engineering, which he obtained in 1971 on a Canadian Government Scholarship. In 1976, he bagged a Postgraduate Diploma in Photogrammetry from ITC, Netherlands; and in 1979, he obtained a M.Sc. in the same course and in the same school. Both degrees were on the Netherlands Government Scholarship. He obtained the G2 Leaving Certificate from Abadina School, University of Ibadan, in 1985.

He was licensed as a surveyor in 1975 and was registered by the Surveyor Council of Nigeria (SURCON) in 1989. He became a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Surveyors in 1998. Between 1982 and 1987, he was Associate Lecturer in Land Surveying at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. From 1988 to 1990, he was Chief Lecturer at the Regional Centre for Training Aerospace Surveys (RECTAS), Ile-Ife. Between 1991 and 1997, he served two terms as the Rector of Federal School of Surveying, Oyo. And between 1997 and 2000, he was Chief Lecturer at Federal School of Surveying, Oyo. He was Member, National Board for Technical Education (NA BTE), Kaduna, from 1992 to 1999.   

He served in many capacities as Council Member, Surveyors Council of Nigeria (SURCON); External Examiner to six Polytechnics; Examiner, SURCON; Chairman, SURCON’S Examination Committee; Member, SURCON’s Group of Resource Person for Accreditation Visitation to Departments of Surveying in Polytechnics and Universities. He served in the civil of Nigeria from 1965 to 2000 when he retired.

Over the years, he participated in learned conferences, workshops, seminars and short courses in Nigeria, Central African Republic, Gabon, Niger, Republic of Benin, Liberia, Cameroun, Cote D’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Morocco, and outside Africa (Brazil, Canada, Holland, Germany, Russia, Sweden, Israel, Australia, and Italy).

He is currently a Senior Lecturer and Head of Department of Surveying and Geo-informatics at Bells University of Technology, Ota, Ogun State.  He went on Pilgrimage to Jerusalem in 2009.  He is married to Modupe Abiola Ogunbayo (Nee Ikujenyo) of Ijebu Imusin. They are blessed with children and grandchildren.
