Otunba Isaac Ogundaini was born on October 27, 1921 to the union of Pa James Motola Ogundaini (Agbon of Ijebu Imusin) and Madam Dorcas Sangoyinka Ogundaini of Odoaseri, Ijebu Imusin. He started his primary school education in 1929 at St. Mary’s Anglican Primary School, Ijebu Imusin, where he obtained both the Standard Six Certificate and GCE Advanced Level Certificate in 1939. He later went to the University of Ife, Ile-Ife, for his higher education and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1967.
He served as teacher and headmaster in different schools, one of which was St. Mary’s Anglican Primary School, Ijebu Imusin. He taught at Ijebu Ode Grammar School and served as Principal in many secondary schools; including Ebenezer Grammar School, Abeokuta; Anglican Grammar School, Ifo; and AUD High School, Isiwo, from where he retired in 1981.
During his teaching career, Otunba Isaac Ogundaini helped in eradicating ignorance and moulding great minds and character of young men and women who have now made their marks in all walks of life. In his Christian pilgrimage, he belonged to the Anglican Communion where he was baptised and confirmed a full member. He served the St. Mary’s Church, Ijebu Imusin in many capacities.
He served as Assistant Secretary, Ijebu Imusin Group Council, from 1955 to 1964 and played a significant role in the electrification project of Ijebu Imusin. He was the President of Ijebu Imusin Youth Club until the inception of Ijebu Imusin Planning Body (IPB) in 1981. In that same year, Alayeluwa Oba S. A. Onafowokan (Ojafadejo II) conferred him with the title of ‘Otunba Ogboye of Ijebu Imusin’ for his immense contributions to the community. Until his death on February 11, 2006, he remained an elder statesman in Ijebu Imusin community. He was posthumously honoured with the famous Ijebu Imusin Merit Award.
