Sir Anthony Ogunkoya was born on December 25, 1926 at Owoye, Ijebu Imusin. He was the product of the marriage between Pa Salami Ogunkoya and Madam Rafatu Ogunkoya. He attended St. Peter Claver’s Catholic Primary Esure, Ijebu Imusin, and St. Leo’s Teacher Training College, Abeokuta, where he obtained his Standard Six Certificate and Teachers Grade II Certificate respectively. He was Head Teacher at St. Peter Claver’s Catholic Primary School in the early 1980s.
He was a foundational member of the Young Men Catholic Association (YMCA), Esure, Ijebu Imusin, and contributed substantially to the development of the Catholic Church at Esure. In recognition of his deep commitment to the Catholic faith, he was decorated with the Knight of St. Sylvester (KSS) by Pope John Paul II in 1984.
In 1954, he married Madam Julianah Ogunkoya and the union was blessed with many successful children. He passed on in 1995.
