Chief Isau Adeko Okusanya was born in February 1932 to Pa Asimi Musuru Okusanya and Madam Rukayat Adenupe Okusanya of Imuwen, Ijebu Imusin. He attended St. Andrew’s Primary School, Imuwen, and moved to St. Mary’s Anglican Primary School, Ijebu Imusin, where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate. He later got his West African School Certificate at Kings’ College, Lagos, before proceeding to do his higher education at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
During his time as a teacher, he taught at different levels in different schools: Primary, Secondary, Secondary Modern, Secondary Grammar and Teacher Training. He was Principal at Ijebu Southern District Grammar School, Ala; Ilusin Grammar School, Waterside; Aiyepe High School, Aiyepe; Macjob Grammar School, Abeokuta; and Ijebu Muslim College, Ijebu Ode. He retired after serving for some time at Itele High School.
He was an eloquent speaker. His immense contribution to the development of Ijebu Imusin in general and Imuwen in particular was recognised with the chieftaincy title of Odofin of Ijebu Imusin.
