Mrs. Olufunmilayo Osobamiro (nee Kalejaiye) was born on June 10, 1934 at Ijebu-Igbo to her parents, Mr. Elijah Olatunji Kalejaiye and Mrs. Rebecca Omorunsola Kalejaiye (nee Okubanjo). She had her primary school education at various institutions, including Ijebu Ode Girls’ School from 1941 to 1944; St. Paul’s, Sagamu, from January to June 1945; Christ Church, Porogun, Ijebu-Ode from July to December 1945; and Christ Church Cathedral, Lagos, in 1946. Between 1947 and 1950, she did her secondary school education at CMS Girls’ School, Lagos. After CMS Girls’ School was merged with Kudeti College to become St. Anne’s School, Ibadan, she returned to the school in 1951 and completed her studies the following year. She was at Alexandrian College, Dublin, between 1954 and 1955 for her tertiary education. Later that year, she studied for a degree at Trinity College, Dublin, and got a B.A in Natural Science in 1960. She later completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from the University of Ibadan.
During her teaching career, she taught in different schools and held various posts there: Abeokuta Girls’ Grammar School; Peoples Girls’ Grammar School, Ibadan (Vice Principal); Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo; St. Theresa’s College; Our Lady of Apostle, Odo-Ona, Ibadan (Teacher); Adelagun Grammar School, Ibadan (Principal); Yejide Grammar School (Principal); and St. Agnes’ School, Ibadan (Principal). She was Pioneer Principal of United Missionary Comprehensive College, Molete, Ibadan, a private school jointly founded by the Anglican/Methodist Mission.
She retired from Public School Administration of Oyo in July 1994 and finally retired from teaching in July 2002. She was on the board of governing bodies of several schools. She served concurrently as Chairman of Board of Governors of St. Anne’s College and Diocesan College, Igan Ipabi, Ijebu Imusin. She retired from both positions in 2013.
