Brigadier General (Engr.) Balogun Shoga Abdulrazaq, of Isoyin/Imusin, Ogun State, Nigeria, was born on September 22, 1951, in Minna, Niger State, Nigeria. He attended Ansar-Ur-Deen Primary School, Jos, from 1959 to 1965, and Government Technical Training School, Ilorin, from 1966 to 1971, finally completing his secondary school education at the Nigeria Railway Technical Training School, Lagos, from 1972 to 1974. In 1974, he was admitted to the prestigious University of Ife (now renamed Obafemi Awolowo University) to study a course in Electrical/Electronics Engineering from 1974 to 1978, and bagged his B.Sc. degree in 1978. In 1986 went on to do his Master’s degree course in Technology Policy and Planning at the same university and earned his MSc. degree in 1988. 

Besides his other educational qualifications, Brig. Gen. B. Abdulrazaq attended a Technical Staff course in Pakistan from January to December 1992 and received a Full Technological Certificate in 1992.

As a Captain Major, he served various times as Platoon Commander and Officer Commanding at the Nigeria Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Corps (NAEME) from 1979 to 1987. In 1988, in his position as Major-Lt. Colonel, he held several appointments at NAEME, such as being Officer Commanding (OC); Principal Scaling Officer (PSO); Colonel Co-ord, NAEME HQ; and General Staff Officer (GSO1) Trg., NAEME HQ.  He was Senior Staff Officer (SSO1) Maintenance for the UN Mission in Somalia from September 1994 to March 1995; and General Staff Officer (GSO1) Equipment Procurement at Army Headquarters (AHQ). As Col. Brigadier, he served as Chief Instructor, of the Nigeria Army School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (NASEME); and as its Acting Commandant, as well as Commander, of the Technical Group (Electrical and Mechanical), an R&D wing of NAEME corps from (1999 -2000).

He performed creditably in all appointments held and was awarded the Certificate of Exceptional Performance at the end of his tour of duty at the UN Mission in Somalia.  

He is a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers. He belongs to the Isoyin Meji Circle Lagos Branch. Brigadier General Balogun Abdulrazaq is passionate about lawn tennis, squash, and forest games. He is married to his amazing wife, Hajia Aminat Balogun, and they have three children.
