Sheikh (Chief) Sarafadeen Adeniji was born on 16th October 1961 at Okepopo, Ijebu Imusin, to Sheikh Ustaz Sulaiman Ismail Adeniji and Madam M. Adeniji of Esugbon, Ijebu Imusin. His father, Sheikh Ustaz Sulaiman, was the Arowasi and Imam Ratibi of Okepopo Mosque from 1939 to 1996.

Chief Sarafadeen S.O. Adeniji had his primary school education at Moslem Primary School, Ijebu Imusin, from 1968 until 1973 when he acquired his First School Leaving Certificate. He then continued his secondary school education at St. Martins’ Secondary Modern School in 1977 and completed it at St. Anthony’s Grammar School, Esure, Ijebu Imusin in 1980 to earn his Teachers Grade II Certificate. The following year, in 1981, he enrolled with M.T.T.C Sagamu, studying until 1984 before proceeding to Ogun State College of Education (now Tai Solarin University of Education), where he obtained his NCE Certificate in 1995. He received his B.Sc. (Edu) degree at the end of his studies at the University of Ibadan in 2004.

Sarafadeen Adeniji learned Holy Arabic within three months and went further to study theology within two and a half years. He also went to study at the School of Arabic and Islamic Studies. He served in many capacities in Ijebu Imusin Central Mosque. He was the Musfasir of the Central Mosque between 1993 and 1995.

He was turbaned on March 23, 1996, as the Noibul-Imam of Ijebu Imusin after the death of the then-Noibul Alh. Sheikh Yunus Baba Egbe in 1994. Sheikh Sarafadeen Adeniji was a professional teacher both in Western and Arabic Education. He became the Chief Imam of Ijebu Imusin on September 3, 2010, succeeding Hadrat Fadhilat Sheikh Adam Olufowobi Badru.   He is married and has six children.
