Otunba Martin Adesanya was born in the late 1940s into the royal families of Logunleko, Itantebo, Ijebu Ode on his father’s side and Kunnussi Obila Adekoya Paseda Idokunnusi, Ijebu Imusin. He attended St Augustine Catholic Primary School, Ijebu Ode, and got his First School Leaving Certificate in 1954. Later, he did his secondary school education at Catholic Boys’ Secondary Modern School, Ijebu Ode, and gained the Modern III Leaving Certificate in 1956. He later obtained his Teacher Grade II Certificate at St. Leo’s Teacher Training College, Abeokuta, in 1960. He proceeded to the University of Ibadan where he first completed a diploma in Theatre Arts in 1975 before graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1985.
He served as teacher and head teacher in several schools, including St. Martins Secondary Modern School, Esure (1965-1973), and as Vice Principal of Anthony’s Grammar School, Esure, Ijebu Imusin (1993-1994).
Otunba Martin Adesanya was conferred with the chieftaincy titles of ‘Otunba Atunobase’ of Ikija Ijebu and ‘Otunba Sikeolu’ of Ijebu Imusin. Hence, he is a member of Ijebu Council of Chiefs.
