Otunba Akinsanya Olusegun was born on May 13, 1939 at Idoko Aledo, Ijebu Imusin. He had his primary school education at St. Mary’s Anglican Primary School from 1945 to 1954. He attended Ijebu-Ode Grammar School where he had his secondary school education (1955 -1959) and obtained the West African School Certificate in 1959. He later studied at Highbury College of Commerce, Islington London N.I., and trained at the Chartered Institute of Bankers (1969), and Chartered Institute of Secretaries (1970). On the 21st of August 1969, he became an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, London, and became an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries in 1970.

His working career started in 1960 at Government Coastal Agency as a 3rd Class Clerk until 1961. He served as a Clerical Cashier at Barclays Bank, D.C.O Apapa, from 1961 to 1964.  He worked in the Packing and Despatch section of Lewden Metal Works, London E. I (1964 -1965); Parcel Section of London Post Office, Islington NI (1965 -1968); Hackney Bourdugh Council, Hackney London NI (1967-1971); and Lloyds Bank Overseas Department, London EC2. In 1971, he joined Co-operative Bank Plc., Ibadan, as an Accountant and rose to District Manager, then Assistant General Manager, and finally General Manager until his retirement on March 2, 1998.   

He was President of Ijebu Imusin Planning Body from 1993 to 1994, and Director of SAPIDA Microfinance Bank Ltd, Ijebu Imusin from 1992 to 2013. He received the Ijebu Imusin Community Merit Award on 10th November 2001. He holds the chieftaincy title of ‘Otunba Obafuwa’ of Ijebu Imusin. His hobbies include listening to music and dancing. He was married to Chief (Mrs.) C. A. Akinsanya (now late) and Mrs. B. O. Akinsanya, and they had five sons and a daughter.
