Ven. Isaac Adewunmi Ige was born at Idomodu, Ijebu-Imusin on May 1, 1956. His father was Pa Johnson Sangosanya Ige and his mother was Mrs. Sarah Abosede Ige. He attended St. Andrew’s Anglican Primary School, Imuwen from 1962 to 1767; Archbishop Vining College of Theology Akure, where he did his Catechist course from 1983 to 1986 before obtaining his Diploma in Theology and Religious Studies (Dip. Th; Dip R. S) from the College between 1993 and 1996. He proceeded for his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Religious Studies at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Ago-Iwoye, from 1998 to 2001.
Ven. Ige started out as a tailor after apprenticeship on August 21, 1976. He also worked with a series of construction companies as he continued to search for greener pastures between 1975 and 1983. He was called into the ministry, having been ordained as a Deacon in 1996 and entered the priesthood in 1997. He was preferred as a Canon in 2007 and as an Archdeacon later in 2012.
Ven. Ige has served in different capacities at several churches within Ijebu-Imusin and beyond, including Emmanuel Anglican Church, Ijero Ekiti (1986-1988); St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Olojumeta (1988-1993); Emmanuel Anglican Church, Lokoja, Kogi State (1996-1999); St. Peter Anglican Church, Agunboye, Ijebu-Igbo (1999-2000); Our Saviour Anglican Church, Oke-Eri (2000-2004) and St. John’s Anglican Church, Idomila (2004-2012). He is presently the Deacon of Ijebu Waterside Archdeaconry and Vicar of St. Thomas Anglican Church, Abagi.
Ven. Ige has a passion for prayers and loves singing religious songs, as well as reading spiritually uplifting books. He is happily married to Mrs. Modupe Iyabode Ige, and they are blessed with lovely children.
