Major Johnson Ademola Abiodun FSS (RTD) was born on 17th January 1952 at Ijagbure, Ijebu Imusin. He attended St. Mary’s Anglican Primary School, Ijebu Imusin (1959 -1965), and then the Nigerian Military School Zaria (1966-1970). He proceeded to the Institute of the University of Lagos, where he obtained his NCE (1979-1982) and a B. A (ED) in English at the same institution (1984-1986).
He attended a series of professional courses such as the Commonwealth and Foreign Ammunition Technical Officers Course in the United Kingdom (1994-1995); Ammunition Ballistic VEH/WICSP Operations in Madrid, Spain (1977); Euro Missile Pyrotechnic S. A. Rolland in Paris, France (1984); EOD/IED Specialist in Lagos (1997); and SAT Specialist in Ilorin (1998).
He served in various positions during his military career. He was Ammunition Storage Specialist (Storage, Maintenance/Management of Ammo/Explosives) 4 Base Ammunition Depot, NA Ordinance Corps, Lagos (1971 -1973); Senior Ammunition Technical Instructor, School of Ammunition, NA Ordinance Corps (1976-1978); and Armament & Ammunition Technician (1/c, Armament & Ammunition Tech Laboratory & Storage), Central Ammunition Depot, NA Ordinance Corps, Kaduna (1986-1988). Between 1989 and 1991, he was Armament & Ammunition Technical Officer (Unit AATO 01/C ADB & Disposal Explosives), 3 Base Ammunition Depot, NA Ordinance Corps, Jos. He was also an Armament & Ammunition Technical Officer (Unit AATO 01/C ADB & Ammino Disposal); and later Unit Adjutant (01/C Units Ammo Inspection), 2 Base Ammunition Depot, NA Corps, Ibadan from 1992-1995.
He served as Senior Instructor NAOC, Chief Instructor NAOC, /TWC 011C Disposal and EOD/IED Specialist, Nigerian Army Ordinance Corps from 1995-1999. He served as Armament & Ammunition Technical Officer (11C Ammo Repairs, Proof Test/Disposal), 82 Base Ammunition Depot, NA Ordinance Corps, Enugu, and then as Armament & Ammunition Technical Officer (11C Armament & Ammo Storage), 1 Ammunition Sub Depot, NA Ordinance Corps, Port Harcourt from 1999-2000.
Rtd. Major Abiodun Johnson was a College Quarter Master at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, Kaduna State, from 2000 to 2004. He was a member of the College Logistics Team, a body charged with the collection, storage, maintenance, accounting, and issuance of the munitions and materials for college use; maintenance of inventory, and safety of college training and administrative stores. He was also a Technical Adviser to the Director of Logistics, planning and forecasting annual store requirements for college.
He is a member of the Nigerian Military School ex-boys Association. He is also a member of De Prestige Klub, Ijebu Imusin and Sunshine Fellowship, St. Mary’s Church, Ijebu Imusin. He takes quite a fancy to agriculture, which he does in his free time. He is married to Mrs. Margaret Adebukola Abiodun and they are blessed with 6 children.
