Dr. Ebun Kalejaiye was born on November 20, 1939, at Odolameso, Ijebu Imusin. He was educated at St. John’s School, Aroloya, Lagos, from 1947 to 1952; and Igbobi College, Yaba from 1953 to 1957. From 1959 to 1960, he attended the Cambridgeshire College of Science & Technology, Cambridge, where he passed the GCE ‘A’ Level course in Biology, Physics & Chemistry; and proceeded to Keble College, University of Oxford to read Medicine from 1960 to 1966. He attended professional programs in Clinical Medicine at Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford, from 1963 to 1966, and at the University of Edinburgh Post-Graduate Medical School (1970-1972) for training in General Surgery. His major academic qualifications include M.A., B.M. B. CH (Oxon) 1966, FRCSED (1972) and FWACS (1976).
He worked as Lecturer in General Surgery at the University of Ibadan from 1976 to 1979, and Consultant Surgeon, at UCH Ibadan, from 1976 to 1979. He was Senior Consultant Surgeon, at General Hospital, Lagos, from 1980 to 1981; and Proprietor, at AMESO Specialist Hospital, Ojota, Lagos, in 1981. He is married to Princess (Dr.) Modupe Kalejaiye (née Adetayo).
