Mrs. Olayinka Kotila (nee Odunsi) was born on August 3, 1975, at Ogbomoso. She hails from Odokujegi, Ijebu Imusin. She attended Command Children School (Annex), NDA, Kaduna for her primary education and Command Secondary School, Bode-Igbo, Ibadan, from 1985 to 1991. She proceeded to the University of Ibadan in 1992 and graduated with a B.Pharm (Pharmacy) in 1999 within that period she became a registered Pharmacist and was awarded her MPSN in 1999.
From 2004 to 2006, she completed her Masters in Pharmaceutical Chemistry in the same institution and was awarded an M.Sc (Pharmaceutical Chemistry) in 2006. Her dissertation was titled, ‘Design, Synthesis and Spectroscopic Analysis of AZ-NPA01 as a New Chromophoric Labeling Reagent.’
She has taught at the University of Ibadan as Lecturer II since 2008. Before joining the University of Ibadan, she was an Intern Pharmacist at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan from 1999 to 2000. She was NYSC member Pharmacist at Adeoyo Maternity Hospital, Yemetu, Ibadan (2000-2001); a Grade I Pharmacist at Ring Road Hospital (New Adeoyo) from 2002 to 2007; and also a Grade I Pharmacist at Aremo Maternity Hospital from 2007 to 2008.
Mrs. Olayinka A. Kotila is a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), the Nigerian Association of Pharmacists in Academia (NAPA), and the International Society for the Study of Xenobiotics (ISSX). She has authored and co-authored many articles in peer-reviewed publications.
She has received awards and honours from several institutions, among them MacArthur Foundation Multidisciplinary Research Grant (as Co-Investigator) 2009; NIH Training Award on Clinical Research Grant, University of Ibadan 2010; Global Health Initiative Fellowship Award, University of Chicago, USA 2011; Wellcome Trust Bursary Award 2012; Novartis Scholarship Award, Pharmacometrics Course in Tanzania 2013; NIH D43 Re-entry Grant Award 2013; MEPIN Year Seed Award from the Fogarty International Centre 2013; and Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) 2014. She enjoys reading, singing, and interacting with people. She and her husband, Rev. Olugbenga Kotila, have two children.
