Dr. Kaolat Oluwafemi Odunaike was born at Ijebu-Imusin on October 16, 1961. She attended Muslim ‘B’ Primary School, Ikorodu, from 1967 to 1972, and Oriwu College, Ikorodu, from 1972 to 1978. She proceeded to Advanced Teacher Training College, Katsina (now Federal College of Education), where she obtained her National Certificate in Education (NCE) in Business Studies in 1982. She completed her Higher National Diploma in Business Studies at Yaba College of Technology in 1986 and got admitted to Ogun State University (now Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye) to study for the Master in Business Administration, which she also received in 1986 before attaining her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Business Administration at Lead City University, Ibadan, in 2010.  

Dr. Odunaike has attended several workshops, conferences, and seminars both locally and internationally to meet the challenges of professionalism in business management, administration, leadership, and other related matters.  To date, she has visited about 10 countries for professionalism.

She served as Assistant Bursar, at Government College, Ikorodu from 1978 to 1979. She completed her NYSC Primary Assignment at Christ Apostolic Grammar School, Iperu-Remo from 1982 to 1983. She later worked as a teacher at Estate College, Ajao, Anthony, Lagos, from 1983 to 1984.  Afterwards, she worked with Temple and Golders Limited for 14 years. She first served as an Administrative Officer (1987-1988), then as an Administrative/Personnel Manager (1989-1992), and eventually as a Sales Manager (1992-2000).

In 2002, Dr. Odunaike joined Tai Solarin College of Education (now Tai Solarin University of Education) as a Lecturer, in the Department of Business Education, serving until 2005.  She was later elected as Head of the Department, of Vocational and Technical Education from 2002 to 2009, and was Deputy Director, of the Centre for Part-time and External Programmes (CEPEP) from 2011 to 2012. She has been Director of, the Distance Learning Institute (DLI) since 2013.

Starting from 1990, Dr. Odunaike has been a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management and an Affiliate Member of the Nigerian Institute of Personnel Management since 1993. She has presently a member of the Association of Business Educators of Nigeria (MABEN) and the International Federation of University Women (IFUW) since 2002 and 2006 respectively. Dr. Odunaike is a member of Rotaks Ladies Club of Nigeria, Ijebu Ode.

She has 24 articles published locally and 10 published in international journals. She has also contributed chapters to books on entrepreneurship, business management, leadership qualities, and poverty alleviation. She has received numerous honours from both student organizations and people-oriented programs.

Her hobbies include traveling and watching movies.  She is married to Prof. Kola Odunaike and they have children.
