Engr. Ibikunle Stephen Ogunbayo was born on November 19, 1952, in Ijebu Imusin. He attended Abadina Primary School, University of Ibadan, from January 1957 to October 1963 and completed his secondary school education at the International School, University of Ibadan, from October 1963 to June 1970. He then proceeded to the University of Lagos, Akoka, Yaba, Lagos, in September 1970 to read Electrical Engineering, graduating with a B.Sc (Hons.) degree in June 1973.
Engr. Ibikunle S. Ogunbayo served as a member of the NYSC at East Central State Broadcasting Service from July 1973 to June 1974. He worked at Western Nigeria Broadcasting Service from June 1974 to June 1978. He joined Oscar Faber & Partners, St Albans, UK, from June 1978 to June 1979 before shifting to Oscar Nigeria (later Biobaku Faber & Partners) from June 1979 to June 1985. He has worked with Kunle Ogunbayo and Associates (now KOA Consultants Limited) since June 1985.
He attended a Chief Executive program at Lagos Business School in 1996. He is a Chartered Engineer and COREN Registered Engineer. He is a Fellow, of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering (FNAEng), and a Fellow, of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE).
He is a past President of the Rotary Club of Lagos, the past President of the Association for Consulting Engineers in Nigeria (ACEN), and past Chairman of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Nigeria Chapter, as well as the past President of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).
He was a Council Member at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Ikeja, from 1985 to 2002; and he sits on the Governing Board of the International Science, Technology and Innovation Centre for South-South Cooperation. He belongs to the Metropolitan Club and Ikoyi Club 1938. He has been a mentor to young professionals and helps to nurture young entrepreneurs.
Engr. Ibikunle S. Ogunbayo has written and presented several papers at various national and international conferences. Among his publications are: Engineering and Sustainable Development (2012); Future Vision – What Does the Future Look Like? (2011); and Globalisation, Cross Border Partnership and Networking (2005).
He is a recipient of several local and national awards. He travels for leisure and enjoys playing golf and reading. He is married to Dr. (Mrs.) Atoke Ogunbayo and they are blessed with children.
