Mr. Alfred Olumuyiwa was born on July 1, 1940 at Iwaya, Ijebu Imusin, into the family of Rev. Tanimowo Ogunyale Ogunnoiki and Mrs. Regina Alaba Ogunnoiki. He attended Christ School, Porogun, and then Egbado College, Ilaro, for his First School Leaving Certificate. He later attended St. Andrew’s Teacher College, Oyo, for a teaching certificate and went on to obtain the West African School Certificate in 1960. He proceeded to study for a higher qualification at the University of Lagos where he attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics in 1970. Subsequently, he proceeded to Phillips University, Erid, Oklahoma, USA, for postgraduate studies and earned a Master’s degree in Education (M.Ed.) in 1981.
He was a teacher at Ijebu Ode Grammar School and CMS Grammar School, Bariga, Lagos, as well as a host other schools. He worked as a lecturer at Ogun State College of Education from 1978 to 1980. He was a principal in Ifesowapo Comprehensive School, Imodi/Imosan; AUD High School, Isiwo, and Christ Church High School, Ijebu Ode, where he retired in April 2001.
He has received many awards like the Medallion Award for Meritorious Service from the Ogun State chapter of All Nigerian Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) in 2002. He also received the Award of Special Christian Couple from the Anglican Communion of Ijebu Diocese in November 2005. He was happily married to Mrs. Sussanah Oluwagbemileke Ogunnoiki and they were blessed with many children. He died on June 13, 2010.
