Chief (Mrs.) Fatimo Omolayole was born June 20, 1945 at Ijebu Imusin. Her father, Chief Jimoh Adekoya Sanni, who hailed from the Esugbon royal dynasty, was a renowned educationist, respected community leader, an Ijebu Imusin Merit Award winner, and the Balogun of Ijebu Imusin Muslims. Her mother Alhaja Silifat Ojuolape Sanni hailed from Odolameso in Ijebu Imusin.
She is a distinguished educationist with over 30 years of work experience. She attended Remo Secondary School, Sagamu, where she sat for and passed the G.C.E O ‘Levels in 1960. She then proceeded to the University of Ibadan to read Botany and Zoology and graduated with a B.Sc (Hons) in 1965. She later moved to the University of Lagos to earn an M.Sc (Hons) in Botany and Zoology in 1968.
She began her teaching career in 1968 at the Jubril Martins Memorial Grammar School, Iponri, Lagos, where she served as Biology Teacher and Head of Science Department from 1968 to 1973. She left there for the Federal School of Arts and Science, Victoria Island, Lagos, and was there from 1973 to 1976 as a teacher and Head of the Botany and Zoology Department. She was also Head of the Biology and Agricultural Science Department, Federal Government College, Ijanikin, Lagos (1976 –1981); Head of Biology and Agricultural Science Department (1981 –1986); and Vice-Principal (Administration) (1986 –1988), Queens’ College, Yaba, Lagos.
In 1988, she joined the Ministry of Education, serving as Head of Teacher Education Division (Higher Education Department) before retiring voluntarily in 1989. She was Pioneering Principal at Home Science Association Secondary School, Ikoyi, Lagos, from 1990 to 1996. She retired from active teaching service in 1996 and became the Managing Director of Omoboladayo Trading Company, an importer of foreign books, science educational materials, and supplier of local books to both public and private schools.
She is a Member of the Board of Governors of the following institutions: Rhemalife International School; Ire-Akari Estate, Isolo, Lagos; Bumsy-jo Nursery/Primary School, Pedro; and Ultra-Imperial College, Alakuko, Lagos. She is a Board member of SAAG Chemical Nig. Limited (Public Analysts, Industrial, and Environmental Consultant, and Chemical Company), and the Patron of the Immaculate Club and United Sisters Club, Ijebu Imusin. Her interests and hobbies include gardening, poultry/catfish farming, reading, and listening to music.
