Bashorun (Dr.) Patrick Olugbemiga Omolayole was born on August 8, 1958. He attended St. Augustine Catholic Primary School, Ijebu Ode, from 1964 to 1966 and St. Patrick’s Catholic Primary School, Oke-Padre, Ibadan, from 1966 to 1970. He had his secondary education at Government College, Ibadan, from 1970 to 1974. He proceeded to Ibadan Polytechnic School of Basic Science from 1974 to 1981, before securing admission to the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, from 1976 to 1981.
Bashorun Omolayole began his career in 1981 as a House Officer at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, Lagos, and remained in that position until 1982. From 1982 to 1983, he worked with the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Ebute-Metta, Lagos. He left the Nigerian Railway Corporation and joined Teju Hospital and Group of Industrial Clinics, Lagos, as a Medical Officer in 1986, serving in that capacity until 1987. Bashorun Omolayole was appointed as Administrator and Medical Director of the hospital in 1986 and held that post until 1988. He was Chairman, of Ogun State Hospital Management Board Old Secretariat, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, in charge of over 30 general hospitals from 2003 to 2008. He is the Medical Director of Omol Medical Clinic, Lagos, and Principal Consultant, at Global Health Care Enterprises since 2008. He is also the Managing Director of Khombuned Technology Limited, Lagos, and Principal Consultant, of Global Wealth Aid (UK) Limited since 2009.
He was a member of the Youth Wing of the Unity Party (UPN) from 1978 to 1983; Ex-officio member of Ward Executive Ijebu-Imusin Ward R II, Ogun State from 1991 to 1993; and Alliance for Democracy from 1999 to 2000. Since 2001, Bashorun Omolayole has been a member of the Leaders’ Forum, Ijebu-Imusin Ward II, Ijebu East Local Government, Ogun State. He has been a member of Ijebu East Local Government Collegiate Leaders since 2008; Vice-Chairman of Ijebu East PDP Monitoring Committee from 2004 to 2008; and Patron of Conference of Ward Chairman, Ogun East Senatorial Zone from 2003 to 2005.
Bashorun Omolayole is a member of many professional and social associations, and he acted as Social Secretary of, Nigeria Medical Association (Lagos Branch) from 1984 to 1986. He is also a member of the Guild of Medical Directors; Lagos Country Club, Ikeja, Lagos; Society of St. Vincent De Paul, an international charity organisation of the Catholic Church; and Chairman of Diocesan Finance Council, Ijebu Diocese of the Catholic Church from 2006 to 2010.
Bashorun Omolayole has authored many publications. Two of his major works are ‘Review of Causes of Death from the Adolescent to the Middle Aged in LUTH’ (1981) and ‘Review of Major Causes of Death in Lagos State’ (NMA Project, 2001).
He has been decorated with an array of awards and honours from various professional, academic, religious, political, and social institutions. He was awarded the ‘Gateway Outstanding Grassroots Politician Year 2005’, presented by the National Association of Ogun State Students; NMA Merit Gold Award presented by the Nigerian Medical Association (FCT Branch); Certificate of Excellent Services to the PDP in the Field of Leadership (during his tenure as patron of Ijebu East Conference of Chairman); Gold Award for Distinguished Leadership in National Development presented by Corporate Standard Magazine; Fellow/National Youth Chapel presented by Ogun State Chapel. Other recognitions he has received include the Merit Award for Excellence in Public Management (from Business Report Ltd.); Role Model Gold Award (from Today’s People International Magazine); Nobles International Award (from West African Nobles Forum); Meritorious Diamond Award from National Development (from Corporate and Medical Africa Communication); Special Merit Award (from Ogere Country Club Ijebu East Local Government); etc.
Bashorun Omolayole’s interests include the collection of artworks and paintings, traveling, reading, listening to music, and playing golf. He is happily married.
