Balogun Adebayo Sikiru Adesegun was born on October 23, 1948 at Itamarun, Ijebu Imusin. He attended Muslim Primary School, Isoku, Ijebu-Ode (1955-1959), and St. Andrew’s Primary School, Aiyesan via Araromi-Obu, Ondo State, until 1960 when he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate. He began his secondary school education at Ago-Iwoye Secondary School from 1963 to 1965 and then moved to Epe Grammar School where he studied from 1966 to 1967, obtaining the West African School Certificate in 1967. In 1970, he proceeded to the University of Ife, Ile-Ife, where he studied Law, graduating with an LLB (Hons) degree in 1973. He completed his one-year compulsory legal studies at the Nigerian Law School, Lagos, and earned his B.L. in 1974.
He began his career as a teacher at Catholic Primary School, Ebute-Imobi, from March 1968 to December 1968. He also served as Clerk at the Nigerian External Telecommunications for the period from January 1969 until September 1970. From August 1975 to June 1976, he served as Pupil State Counsel, Federal Ministry of Justice, Marina, Lagos; and later as Counsel at I. O. Owotomo & Co. Solicitor, Ijebu-Ode, from June 1976 to February 1984. He completed his compulsory one-year National Youth Service at the Ministry of Justice, Ilorin. Since 1984, he has been Principal Partner, Chief S. Adesegun Adebayo & Co. Solicitor & Notary Public.
He was Chairman, of the Itamarun Development Council; Chairman, of the Committee on Boundary Dispute Between Ikala and Ilodo; and Chairman, of Oba Oloko’s 10th and 20th Anniversary Committee.
He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association and International Bar Association. He is also a member of the Ijebu Imusin Club, Ijebu-Ode Club, Royal Club of Ijebu Imusin, and Klub’77 of Nigeria.
He is a recipient of several awards including the Ijebu Imusin Community Merit Award and the Award of the Nigeria Bar Association. He also holds the traditional titles of Balogun of Itamarun, Ijebu Imusin, and Balogun General of Ijebu Imusin. He is the first lawyer to live and settle at Ijebu Imusin since 1981. He is married to two wives: Moriyike and Adebowale, and his family is blessed with seven daughters.
