Alhaji (Chief) Shuwaib Adebanjo Badmus was born on June 21, 1945, to the family of Pa Gbadamosi Alli of Okepo, Ijebu Imusin and Madam Osefatu Badmus (nee Alli) of Odanyanlu.
He started his primary education at Moslem Primary School, Ijebu Imusin, and then proceeded to MuslimSecondary School, Ijebu Imusin. After passing his GCE O ‘Level, he went on to the Nigerian Army School of Medical Sciences, later to the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), and then to Kaduna Polytechnic successively. He obtained several educational certifications from his academic quests, such as a First School Leaving Certificate, Secondary Modern School Certificate, G.C.E O/Level, Nursing Certificate, Certificate in Social Medical Work at UNN, and a National Diploma in Social Administration.
Alhaji S. A. Badmus has served in many and varied organizations, including Field Ambulance, Apapa, Lagos; Military Hospital, Lagos; Military Hospital, Port Harcourt; 15 Brigade Medical Reception Station (MRS), Ahoada, Rivers State; Military Hospital, Ibadan; 71 Field Ambulance, Kaduna; 136 Artillery Battalion Nsukka (MRS); 4 Infantry Battalion Hiltop Enugu (MRS); 1 Div Artillery Kakuri, Kaduna (MRS); 81 Battalion Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi; Nigeria Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna; and 1 Div Base School of Medicine Ojo, Lagos, where he retired as Warrant Officer (WO), an instructor in the Nursing Wing of the Institution in 1991. After his retirement, he came back home and started a trade in kerosene sales.
Though a retired soldier, he has remained a highly enterprising ex-serviceman who is committed to the development of his community. He has held several posts in Ijebu Imusin. He has been a member of Okepo Youth Association and Financial Secretary/Secretary of Ijebu Imusin Progressive Society (IPS), Kaduna Branch for over 12 years. He has served the Ijebu Imusin Planning Body (IPB) in various capacities as Financial Secretary, Rally Co-ordinator for 2 years, Public Relations Officer (PRO), Vice-President and Rally Centre Bolt.
He is a member of Club 58 Ijebu Imusin, Patron-Unique of Ijebu, Adviser of Ijebu Imusin Vulcanizers Association, and Chairman of Kerosene Sellers Association, Ijebu Imusin, a post which earned him the appellation ‘Baba Kero’. He is the President of the Muslim Youth Association, Central Mosque, Ijebu Imusin.
He holds the traditional titles ‘Baale Oja of Imusin’, and ‘Ekeji Ilu Oja Imusin’, and he is the Chairman of Central Vigilante Corps, Ijebu Imusin. Chief S.A. Badmus was instrumental in assisting about 20 youths of Ijebu Imusin to procure loans from SAPIDA Bank for the purchase of motorcycles (popularly known as Okada) for commercial transportation.
Alhaji (Chief) S. A. Badmus was recognized for his services to IPS with the Best Member of IPS Kaduna Award in 1987. He was consecutively the winner of the award for IPB Man of the Year 2007, IPB Man of the Year 2008, IPB Man of the Year 2009, and IPB Man of the Year 2010. On 12th November 2011, Alhaji (Chief) Shuwaib Adebanjo Badmus was conferred with the prestigious Ijebu Imusin Community Merit Award (ICMA). He is happily married to Mrs. Omolara Badmus (nee Adekoya) with children.
