Dr. (Engr.) Arinola Bola Ajayi was born on June 17, 1969 at Odolameso, Ijebu Imusin. He attended Baptist Day School, Ijebu Ode, where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate in 1979, and St. Anthony’s Grammar School, Esure, Ijebu Imusin, where he sat and passed both his WASC and GCE O ‘Levels in 1985. He completed his HSC and GCE A ‘Levels in 1987 at King’s College, Lagos. He graduated with a BSc. (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Lagos in 1993; received his MSc. in Mechanical Engineering in 1998 and completed his PhD in Mechanical Engineering in 2013, both from the University of Lagos. In addition, he has other professional certifications like Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) in 2000, Nigerian Society of Engineers (MNSE) in 2010, and Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (R. Engr.) in 2013.
Dr. Arinola Bola Ajayi has been a lecturer at the University of Lagos since November 2000. During this time, he developed electricity-generating bicycles and solar-optimizing techniques and supervised over 30 students’ projects. He is a mentor to several undergraduate and postgraduate students. He has to his credit over 14 publications in reputable academic journals.
In 2000, he served as Assistant Manager, at United Bank for Africa (UBA) until November of that year, when he left for the University of Lagos. Before joining UBA, he had served as an Industrial Trainee at Chevron Nigeria Ltd. in 1992. He completed his one-year NYSC service at Basic Agrotech Nig. Ltd. from 1994 to 1995. From 1998 to 1999, he was a Mechanical Engineer at Project Engineering Services Ltd.; and from 1999 to 2000, he acted as Fleet Manager at Evrii Corporation of Nigeria Ltd.
He plays chess and scrabble and enjoys biking and listening to music. He is happily married to Mrs. Oladunni Bola Ajayi, and they are blessed with five children.
